May the fruits of the spirit bloom...

Tonight was such an encouraging and wonderful night at the Salvation Army. It was great to be back and seeing the kids again. As I looked back at how the kids were when i first started going there, I can greatly see the kids growing more and more. One of the kids tonight really touched my heart. His name is Isaac. He is a wonderful kid that has so much energy that he does not know how to fully control it. They are working on building a tool box for a project. Isaac really surprised me tonight. He allowed me to hang out with him more tonight and help him out. H was calmer and listened when they were getting told what they needed to do for this project. As I was helping he, I noticed that I could see the true passion in his eyes as he worked on this project. He was truly trying his hardest and doing super well at it. I would have never thought that Isaac would be so good at craftsmanship. Sure yeah it took some help from me but by this little action and activity I can see such an improvement in Isaac and it is so great. He is truly growing up and learning about God's love for him and the plan that he has for him. I love kids, the salvation army, and everything else. :)

The Urge to Complain Solution

There are just those days where to it just seems like one of those days where all i want to do is complain.
I have a headache...I don’t wanna go to class...I am so stress I don’t know what to do...I don’t want to be at school...and so on...
As I think more and more about this, we should have positive attitudes throughout the day. We have all been blessed with so much and it just does not make sense. So I am challenging myself with a daily responsibility.
Everyday I am going to write down the blessings and good things that happened during the day. this will show me that even though I had a bad day, the blessings and good things out numbered the bad. It will be a good reminder that I am just dwelling on the bad when I should be looking more at God’s blessings he has for me everyday.
So I guess I also challenge you to do the same. What is it each day that has gone well and how has that made your day better while life seems to throw its punches at us through out the day. So everyday I am going to be doing this and journaling it and potentially posting it to the blog. I challenge you to do this with me.
So here it goes...
  1. SUMMIT!
  2. an awesome and encouraging talk with one of my profs about my next semester at another college.
  3. chill time with the mr adam moss and mr craig johnson.
  4. the snow looks beautiful!
  5. its the weekend!
those are just a few that I can think of for today. I am going to do this each day.
Happy weekend and happy resting.

A new year...A new self...A new chance to change

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

This verse will be my theme to go by and look at. It is 2012...a new year for me to start over and get a fresh start at school and my work ethic and a new start to better health and taking care of myself. This past year has been quite the rough year. While it was hard and I did not know how to handle it...God got me and my family through it and continues to be with us today as we still deal with it. He has placed so many blessings in our lives amidst all of the troublesome things. He is a god that provides and will always watch out for us.

As I was reading through my devotional there was an excerpt that just was a good way to start out the year.

"Come to me with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed. A close walk with me is a life of continual newness. Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year. Instead, seek my face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind. As you focus on your thoughts on me, be aware that I am fully attentive to you. I see you with a steady eye, because my attention span is infinite. I know and understand you completely; my thoughts embrace you in everlasting love. I also know the plans I have for you: plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to my presence."

As I ponder upon this I look back at this year and see what I have been blessed with.

This summer I got the chance to work in Atlanta, Georgia for a month and work with the youth and community. It was a great experience.

Another thing I shoot as a highlight would be going to the pulse festival with my boyfriend and his sister. It was a blast and I loved it. I learned how to play euchre.

                                                         Then...my first shark week!

Then came the school year...I got the incredible chance to work with an awesome group of people in outreach. I am sad to not be able to work with them this next semester but this semester will be better and it will all get better.

Then some awesome time with friends during the school semester...

My favorite part of this year was the christmas season. I had lots of fun with friends and family, went to  a Komets game with my boyfriends family, went caroling at Grace Village, and had some good times at Craigs family christmas's and my family christmas's.

I am blessed to have the friends and family that I do. I have so much to be blessed for and will always remember to be thankful for the epic things that took place last year. May this next year be even better.
